Tom Shafer's Report

at the SCRA Meeting

Tom Shafer and Joel Gain drove to Schuyler county recently for their Friends of NRA Dinner.  They've got a gun club there and they're working on a range too.  Meantime they're holding meetings like SCRA does.

Shafer got some stuff for the people at the SCRA meetng but he made them use their heads and work for them by answering questions from history.  A youngster named Noah handed out the prizes to those who answered the questions correctly.

Shafer moved on by telling everyone to go to the internet and look up the video about the Canton, Ohio police officer named Daniel Harless.  This cop pulled over a permit holder and told him to, "Shut up, nobody say nothin!" as the driver was trying to inform the cop that he was carrying.

The cop went through the car and all his stuff and about a half-hour later, the guy said, "You know I'm carrying."  The cop went nuts and yelled, "I should have just killed you.  I should have just pulled out my Glock and put eleven bullets in your ass!"  Boy, what a nice guy cop.

Come to find out this was his normal demeanor to folks.  They found a second similar video and then a third, "If you scratch your crotch I'm going to kill you!" Harless said to another man.

Shafer couldn't get ahold of the mayor of Canton but he got hold of Alan Schulman, the council president, who tried to play it all off that the guy should have told the police officer he was carrying right away and it wasn't really the cops fault.

Shafer laughed and told him that wasn't the way most folks saw it in the video which has been seen over 2 million times now.   "You've got a rogue cop.  Is he going to be fired or are you going to be fired?"

Come to find out, during the call, Schulman's wife was listening in on another line.  Apparently she was waiting for some kind of death threat or something like, "We're going to get you Al."

Shafer called back for a follow up and now Schulman says, "We're firing him, don't worry, he's gone."

There's no reason for this guy to act like this unless his bosses want him to act like that.

Shafer will give us an update when they fire him, including all the dirty details of how much they spend on this disgraceful case.
