Engineering has developed from observations of the ways natural and constructed systems react and from the development of empirical equations that provide bases for design. Founded in 2003, this social chatting app bears several similarities with most other mobile messaging apps. It is cross-platform in that it can work well across several operating systems and platforms. Examples of these are iOS, Microsoft Windows, Android, Linux, and MacOS. It had a whopping 980 million registered users worldwide as of the year-ended 2017. This began in 1964 when Bob Moog produced his “Moog Synthesizer.” Lacking a keyboard, the Moog Synthesizer was not truly an electronic keyboard. Then, in 1970, Moog debuted his “Minimoog,” a non-modular synthesizer with a built-in keyboard, and this instrument further standardized the design of electronic musical keyboards. The U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics has revealed that employment opportunities in the field of electro-mechanical technology will … Read the rest

The cost of installing a solar electricity generating system may be offset by government grants and tax credits, if they are available; which in some cases are quite generous and can reduce installation costs considerably. Since off the grid solar electric generating systems are so costly, it is easy to understand why it is important to take a close look at electricity consumption and how electricity consumption can be reduce, prior to installing a solar … Read the rest

Technology has seeped into every aspect of our lives today. Modern mechanical or electrical systems have a computer control mechanism embedded in it that does all the logical and arithmetic decision-making for the whole system. The fact is that people tend to judge us by our appearance. For a lot of folks on video calls, that appearance has degraded sharply this year. Wrinkled clothing, no makeup, partial beards, hair on men down to their shoulders, and work locations that are sloppy, dingy and dark. These all have become everyday experiences on video calls. A few vendors recently showcased new tech to address how we look and sound in online meetings. Linking the human brain to a computer via a neural interface is an ambition for many researchers throughout the worlds of science, technology and medicine, with recent stories in the media highlighting efforts to develop the technology. However, innovation in … Read the rest

Engineering has developed from observations of the ways natural and constructed systems react and from the development of empirical equations that provide bases for design. Her neuro-link implants allowed her to energetically tap into any type of technology, such as navigation databases, language databases and repositories to add new information or access classified language codes. She learned to use software that allowed her to code information so that it could not be hacked. What happens to a dying nuclear plant? Everything in the plant must be disposed of or repurposed (if at all) in a safe manner. Many parts of the plant aren’t exposed to radioactive materials, but the systems that produce energy will need to be screened for radioactive materials and disposed of in a manner that protects not only those who are alive now, but many generations to come after us. Technology in the Health-care system alone has … Read the rest

The rate at which new computer hardware products are arriving in the market is simply mind-boggling. In today’s world we seem to expect a lot from our governments. We expect them to eliminate crime at the same time as we continually increase the number of new criminal laws, we expect them to increase economic output, reduce inequality, make our neighbourhoods more pleasant places to live, provide a wide range of services, prevent terrorism, increase public morality, reduce behaviours we see as harmful such as smoking, substance abuse, bullying etc, and many other things besides. There is a very serious danger that in the near future technology will make many of these previously impossible demands which we have placed on our governments entirely possible. I say that this is a danger, rather than a utopian dream, because most of these things are not really within the government’s power to give us … Read the rest

Any website on the Internet needs to be hosted on a web server application that does the job of delivering the pages from the hosted website to a visitor’s browser. That means you get Ubuntu Linux with a heavily customized GNOME desktop environment that looks a lot like macOS. It also means that you won’t have to do all the customization all by yourself to make Ubuntu look like MacOS Gmac already does it for you. Plus you get to keep your Ubuntu distribution. There are tools for moving VEs across different Virtuozzo servers in the event of a disaster. A SAN is not really required (which must be a big plus). That reduces costs tremendously and Virtuozzo claim that you can move live applications while data is in transit (“up to the last moment”). A quick check with the Wine Web site showed that Photoshop was indeed among the … Read the rest
